To ensure research equity and respect for Tribal customs and research practices, NIH is proposing disposition options for de-identified biospecimens collected from AI/AN and International Indigenous populations. When NIH can identify Tribal affiliation and has initiated the return of biospecimens, several options can be pursued. This Tribal Consultation is aimed at identifying solutions, in partnership with Tribes, that NIH can confidently deliver.

Sharing data accelerates biomedical research discovery, in part, by enabling validation of research results, providing accessibility to high-value datasets, and promoting data reuse for future studies. This session is intended to give an overview of NIH’s data sharing policies focusing on the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy and the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy. This is a great opportunity for ASHG attendees to meet experts from NIH and ask questions about NIH data sharing policies.
