Upcoming Meeting of the Novel and Exceptional Technology and Research Advisory Committee

On August 29, 2023, from 2:00- 4:30 PM ET, NIH will be hosting a virtual meeting of the Novel and Exceptional Technology and Research Advisory Committee (NExTRAC).  This meeting will include presentation, discussion, and possible finalization of a draft report prepared by the Data Science and Emerging Technology Working Group.  The Working Group was previously tasked with identifying research questions that rely on novel types and uses of data, and to explore implications of this research for stakeholders.

In addition, the meeting will include discussion of next steps for the Committee.

NIH Seeks Input on Challenges and Opportunities for the Further Development and Use of Novel Alternative Methods

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking public input on challenges and opportunities for the further development and use of novel alternative methods (NAMs) in biomedical research.  Input received from this request will inform the NIH and the development of the Advisory Committee to the NIH Director (ACD)’s recommendations on high-priority areas for future investment in NAMs. 

Comments on the Request for Information must be submitted by August 16, 2023 through the online comment portal found at: https://osp.od.nih.gov/request-for-information-rfi-catalyzing-the-development-and-use-of-novel-alternative-methods-to-advance-biomedical-research.  The ACD Working Group on Novel Alternative Methods will also be hosting an expert workshop on August 21, 2023. The agenda for this meeting along with videocast information will be posted to the OSP website later this summer.

NIH to Host Webinar on “Strategies for Responsibly Reporting Back Environmental Health and Non-Genomic Research Results” funding opportunity announcement

NIH will be hosting a pre-application webinar on the “Strategies for Responsibly Reporting Back Environmental Health and Non-Genomic Research Results” funding opportunity announcement jointly issued by the All of Us Research Program, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and OSP.  The webinar will be held on May 10, 2023, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET.
