Ryan Bayha

Director of Strategic Engagement

Ryan Bayha is the Director of Strategic Engagement within the NIH Office of Science Policy.  In this role, Ryan develops integrated communication strategies to increase brand identity; broaden awareness of OSP programs and priorities; and increase OSP visibility across key stakeholder audiences.  Ryan also directs OSP’s media relations and oversees all online and social media resources.

Ryan has worked in a variety of roles since first joining NIH in 2003.  Before his current role, he was the Senior Outreach Analyst for the biosafety and biosecurity program within OSP.  Prior to that, Ryan worked closely with colleagues in NIAID to evaluate the environmental impacts of high- level biocontainment laboratories.

Ryan has received numerous awards during his time at NIH, including eight NIH Office of the Director Awards, the NIH Special Act of Service Award, the FDA Commissioner’s Award of Excellence, and the Richard C Knudsen Publication Award, given annually by the American Biological Safety Association to the journal article that provides the most significant contribution to scientific investigation and/or health and safety
