NIH Biennial Report
The NIH Biennial Report fulfills a requirement established by Section 104 of the NIH Reform Act (PL 109-482) that requires the NIH Director to submit a report to Congress that assesses “the state of biomedical and behavioral research,” describes NIH activities, and justifies the priorities set by NIH. Development of the report is coordinated by OSP, who work with staff throughout NIH to provide an overview of the NIH research portfolio across all of the Institutes and Centers (ICs) and Office of the Director (OD) program offices. Examples of NIH-funded research advances are cited in the report, as are NIH efforts to promote implementation of research findings in the clinic and to communicate important health information to the public.
Biennial Reports for Fiscal Years 2006–2007 and 2008–2009 can also be viewed at the website.
